Day 1

Well, here we are in Kuala Lumpur, looking forward to a 4.20am wake up call to board a 6.25am flight to Hanoi, so this will be a brief post before we all try and get some sleep.
Now I have to give my children gold stars for their effort on the flight, absolute stars, listening to their Ipods, watching movies, eating, and drawing....before we knew it the flight was over.

It will be interesting to see how the 'online' Vietnam 'on arrival' visas will be greeted at Hanoi Airport.
Note to self: complete paperwork tonight.

I realised on the plane today that I really do need this journey. It's a great way to stop and process the recent events (2010 really) and unfoldings of my life. To check in and feel if I'm now on the right path, to find clarity I guess.
My instincts tell me I am, but I feel this will just hopefully reconfirm those instincts.

Now, who knew there is a Cafe Vue at the Melbourne Airport - International terminal - once you've cleared customs?? I was pleasantly surprised to be able to sit down and have a decent coffee (or two) before boarding the plane, while the kids enjoyed their pain au chocolate. Besides airline food, that's all I have for you today on the cuisine side of things.

On another completely different note, I was reading Marie Claire today, as you do on an 8 hour flight, and I was moved by an article on Rhianna (think that's how you spell her name - the big fan that I am). It was close to my heart and my experiences and what really struck me was the similiarity of the processing of the events.
If you get a chance i would recommend reading it, it gives an insight into the common frailties but underlying strength that we all possess and unify us as 'human'.

Goodnight and forgive me for any spelling mistakes etc.... am now rather weary.

xx
Lisa
